The Pressure Peer-Pressure can Play

The Lottery
Peer Pressure
In and out of school there are many pressures for our youthto deal with. Many times, no one knows of the difficulties the young adults aredealing with until challenges and problems arise from them. This lesson plan isdesigned to be a helpful tool in the young adults' lives; created to showstudents how to use their imaginations as a safety zone to experience peerpressure and the harmful side effects it can cause if one allows oneself to getcaught up in its hype.

As the students finish reading of “The Lottery,” I need tomake sure that they understand what they just read. So, at this time one personin their group raises their hand, and then I know to come over to their group and aska few detail oriented questions about "The Lottery." If, for the mostpart, I can see that they understand "The Lottery," I give them theo.k. to move on to the next part of the assignment. However, if I feel they donot understand what they read, their group has to repeat the color coordinatedjigsaw reading process, again.
Students love when they can interact with a test in some manner: it helps to reinforce the lesson. The students are broken down into really four different groups.
